How Meet Your Mate works

You’re all set. You don’t need to search or browse through people: we do that for you. Meet Your Mate keeps looking in the background for people who could be a strong fit. When we find someone, they’ll appear under Potential matches on your Home page and we’ll email you.

There isn’t always someone suitable straight away, because we only suggest people who meet the matching criteria, and our local community is still growing.

No. Meet Your Mate isn’t a searchable directory, and members can’t browse through everyone. We only show a short version of your profile to the small number of people we’ve selected as Potential Matches for you, and to anyone you’re introduced to.

No. Your photos are never public and never appear in emails. Our team checks photos before they’re shown. Your main photo is only shown to the small number of people we’ve selected as Potential Matches for you, and to people you’re introduced to.

Tap Profile at the bottom of the screen. There you can see and edit your bio, prompt answer and photos. To change your answers, go to Profile → Edit my answers. To change who you’d like to meet (age, distance and so on), use the Romantic or Friendship tab.

• They’ll appear under Potential matches on your Home page.
• We’ll email you (at most one such email a day).
• If you haven’t answered after about two days, we’ll send you one reminder.
• We introduce you only after you both independently choose an introduction, and we’ll email you when that happens.

There isn’t a set timeframe. We’d rather wait until we find someone who could genuinely suit you than show you people just to fill a list. Meet Your Mate is also still growing locally, so sometimes it takes a little while for the right person to join.

Don’t worry: it doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with your profile. How many potential matches there are depends on who has joined locally, your age and distance preferences, what you’re looking for, and compatibility.

• Take a break (in Account): we stop suggesting matches and nobody new will see your profile. Your account and answers stay here for when you’re ready to come back. Tap Resume whenever you like.
• Delete my account and data (in Account): removes your account and information permanently. This can’t be undone.

A local introduction service for people in the Helderberg and Stellenbosch who’d like to meet someone for a relationship, for friendship, or both. Instead of endless swiping, we look at what matters to you and suggest a few people we think could genuinely suit you.

There’s no password to remember. Tap Sign in, enter your email address and we’ll email you a button and a 6-digit code. Use whichever is easier:

• The button: tap it in the email, then tap Continue, and you’re in.
• The code: handy if your email is on a different phone or computer. On the sign-in page, tap Already have a code from our email?, then enter your email address and the code.

The button and code work for 24 hours, and only once: using one cancels the other. If an old one doesn’t work, just ask for a new one and use the newest email. If the email doesn’t arrive within a few minutes, check your spam or promotions folder.

1. Answer the questionnaire (your answers are saved as you go).
2. Choose Relationship, Friendship, or both.
3. Finish your profile: a short bio, one prompt answer and two photos.

Yes. Go to Profile → Edit my answers at any time.

Someone we’ve shortlisted for you because, based on your answers, we think you could be highly compatible. You’ll see their first name, age, area, a short bio and their main photo. We never show anyone’s answers or a compatibility score.

No. Nobody is told that someone said no, didn’t answer, or said yes. Only if you both choose an introduction do we let you both know and introduce you.

We’d rather suggest a few people who could really suit you than an endless list: at most five of each type at a time.

Each suggestion stays for 7 days, with one reminder. After that it quietly makes way for someone new. The other person isn’t told.

No. Your answers are used to find your matches and are never shown to other members.

New potential matches (at most one such email a day), one reminder, introductions and new messages. You can change this in Account → Email updates.

Every photo is checked by our team. You can block or report anyone you’re introduced to, and our team reviews every report. When you meet someone for the first time, meet in a public place and let a friend know where you’ll be.
